Welcome to my Weight Watchers Friendly Weekly Recipe and Link Roundup
Encouragement and inspiration are critical whenever you’re trying to change your habits. This is especially true when the habits involve eating better, losing weight and creating a healthy balanced lifestyle.
Sticking with the slow and steady sensible balanced approach to lasting change can seem dull and out of step when everywhere you look people seem to be swinging between overindulgent excess and extreme deprivation based diets.
Here’s what I’ve got for you this week…
WW Weekly Topic:
Take the “Eat-the-Rainbow” Challenge to Up your Produce Intake
The simplest way to eat more fruits and veg? Buy and prepare more of them! Really it’s that simple.
To prevent boredom be willing to experiment. Try something new. Changing up produce keeps everyday eating interesting, delicious, and colorful. Check out what’s available at your grocery store or local farmer’s market.
Here are 23 easy ways to eat more fruits and veg if you need more ideas.
Thanks to my sister and our foray into community gardening, we discovered kohlrabi, part bulb, part greens, it’s like a cross between a radish, jicama, broccoli, and collard greens.
It can be eaten raw or cooked. We tried it roasted, sautéed and shredded for slaw. It’s also great as part of a veggie tray with your favorite skinny dip.

Weekly Weight Loss Devotional
I love devotionals. I’ve been reading them daily for years and recently felt the call to begin sharing a weekly devotional specific to weight loss with you here.
Reading the same devotional over and over every day for at least a week, until I have it committed to memory is powerful. The positive words soak into every part of my being refreshing me and giving me strength.
This week’s topic: Smile
Speaking of smiles, check out my latest baby grandson as he smiles in his sleep!
New Discoveries & WW Friendly Food Finds
Have you heard of Al Dente Carba-Nada Pasta? I hadn’t until the company reached out offering a free sample! Definitely one of the perks of having a food blog!
I’ve made it twice now. I used the roasted garlic fettuccine tossed with a little olive oil and garlic as a simple side dish with slow cooker chicken cacciatore and the egg fettuccine in this easy tuna casserole.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much it tasted like “regular” pasta. Both the taste and texture were excellent. Each generous serving has just 3 SmartPoints!
There are also several Al Dente Plant-Based Pastas – Chickpea Turmeric, Red Lentil Sweet Potato, Green Pea Wild Garlic—that are higher in protein and gluten-free. I haven’t had a chance to sample them yet.
